What is 'Theological Reflection?'
Song of the Lark God is at work all around us, all the time, if only we have the eyes to see and the ears to hear. The purpose of theological reflections (TRs) in FDCM might be described as developing our spiritual eyesight and hearing, so that we can better notice the workings of the Holy Spirit in and around us.

In the FDCM program, students begin to learn the process of theological reflection by working first with great paintings, two popular examples of which are displayed on this page. Students prayerfully apply the doctrines of creation, sin, judgment, repentance, and resurrection to the artwork Having learned the basics, FDCM students next apply the TR process to stories, and lastly to incidents in their own lives. The Wedding Feast Once mastered, the TRs become a means of learning from puzzling or hurtful experiences, and gaining inspiration from joyful "God-incidences." Students begin to see God's hand in work in even the most unlikely places.

Potential FDCM mentors are carefully trained in guiding groups through TRs during Mentors' Retreats.
